Indian Foods

We made many things at home. It helped that we have an Indian Grocery story near us.

We also went to Indian restaurants near us.

We also Used Masala Chili sauce so that we could omit the chili spice from the recipe and then add some back in afterward.

After looking up several recipes, we purchased Indian spices. Spices like Garam Masala (A spice mixture), Tumeric, Cumin (whole and powder), mustard seeds, coriander seeds (ground and whole), chili powder were used a lot. We also purchased fenugreek (dried and seeds), cardamom, and cinnamon sticks, which were used for some recipes.

We tried to eat foods from different types of cuisines.

Biryani - An aromatic meat and rice dish, Brought over from Persian chefs in the Middle Ages.

Street Food - In the cities, there are many different types of food stalls and street vendors. We tried Pani Puri and Farfar or Fryums (in our air fryer).

Ayurvedic medicinal eating from ancient traditions. Street foods from the big cities. European foods brought over from colonists.
